Giddess Chalamanda is a Malawian acoustic musician, born in Chiradzulu in January 1931, and one of the country's most loved artists. His best-known songs include Linnyhoo and Buffalo Soldier.
In 2016, aged eighty-five, he toured the United States and performed at the Library of Congress in Washington, where his music was archived. A 2020 collaboration with Patience Namadingo went viral on TikTok, and the Maso Awards gave him a Lifetime Achievement Award in November 2022.
